Autumn in England Pictures from Killington House, Devon Photos and collage by Palden Jenkins
Killington is northeast of Exeter a National Trust property
Broadclyst Church

Pictures taken at Killington House, East Devon, during a warm late-October autumn day in 2006. Climate change: autumn is getting later and later. England is nevertheless beautiful at this time of year.

This collection of pictures is especially for my friends who live in hot, dry climates. This is what temperate rainforest looks like - except it's planted woodland in an old country estate.

Britain has more species of tree than the whole of North America. Part of the reason is that intrepid Victorian aristocrats travelled the world, avidly collecting plant seeds and planting them back home. On country estates like Killington, you see the results, a hundred or more years on.
