This site is about the book Pictures of Palestine. It contains lots of photos of the West Bank and other features to show you why I like Palestine, why it's important and even why you might consider visiting.

Pictures of Palestine is a readable book with maps and lots of photos. It's all about my experiences in the West Bank.

It gives a glimpse into the real life of Palestinians in the West Bank – a people with a land and no nation, a special people tired of fighting, who seek a brighter future and have surprising lessons to teach the world.

It’s a story of children, shopkeepers and taxi-drivers, rabbis, Bedouin and peacemakers, soldiers, politicians and scraggy cats. In the midst of all this, Hope Flowers, a remarkable school and community education centre dedicated to healing the wounds of conflict and rebuilding society.

This bundle of impressions and photographs reveals both my own personal journey in the Middle East and moving insights into Palestine’s current situation and complex history.

The book suggests some perceptive solutions to the ongoing struggle and political stalemate, hinting of a time when Arabs and Israelis will sit together wondering why this nightmare ever happened.

Palestine's people

It's readable, with short chapters. You can dip into it as you wish, without having to wade through from cover to cover. It's based on a blog telling the story of my three-month stay in summer 2009. More recent experiences can be found on my blog here.

NEXT: About the Book

The Palestine story has not been properly told. News from this conflict zone has been confusing and tainted with propaganda and other people's projections. It has gone on for a distressingly long time, leading many people worldwide to give up trying to understand it. Pictures of Palestine seeks to rectify that, seeking to help readers understand this multi-faceted, intense situation in a real-life way.
