martinsey.org.uk

This is a small site for a charitable trust which promotes two things: the preservation of the ancient and historic monastic island of Martinsey in the Somerset Levels, and the promotion of natural burials.

Martinsey Isle Trust

In this case, the clients are not too literate or organised in their thinking about websites, so I have had to make many presentational and editorial decisions on their behalf - and they have been very happy with that. After all, not everyone is really interested in or mentally equipped for conceptualising and formulating their own website and outreach - their gifts might be in other areas - and self-presentation is often more difficult than presenting or promoting others. However, one of the trustees is a gifted artist, and I have used his pictures on the site.

Here's a special page I created for them about the history and significance of Martinsey Isle. In this case I used some of the trust's own material, and added more that I myself wrote (being an historian with some knowledge about the island).

The above picture uses a special technique that I employ for preventing copying and re-use of valuable pictures on the Web (such as with Google Images). The above image is actually made up of ten 'slices' - individual graphic files that are fitted together exactly, to look as if they are one picture. Anyone trying to reproduce this will have to be very advanced in computer graphics, and they'll have to use up a lot of time reconstructing the image!
